MY CONTROVERSIAL STEPS by Suchismita Ghoshal

My controversial steps
Towards my arrogant life
Brought the broken pieces

Of tarnished confetti.
Assumptions go wrong,
Predictions turn extremely faulty,
Voids seen in every turn I take
And loud screams make everything hazy.
Pronunciations are unclear

When I try to call out “L-I-F-E”.
Have I ever heard the reverberation
Of agonizing remnants and unrequited love?
Days are whooshing for a pathetic end

Where monday blues no more cry
For the sycophant week days attached.
My head sunk in between my knees,
And I sit in a narrow corner of my murky room.

Howling from time to time
Will not thin the layers of grief
And I won’t ever stop repenting
My controversial steps.
