Submissions Guidelines

Before submitting, please carefully read The WRITERLY Magazine Submission Guide:

General Guidelines for all entries. (Poems, Articles, Stories, Quotes, Paintings, Sketches, e.t.c.)

1. Theme: “OPEN”
2. All submission must include the Author’s brief bio and their picture attached in a separate file.
3. No more than one submissions.
4. Only send unpublished work.
5. No plagiarism
6. Photographs should be sent as a detached file.
7. Please do not send a new submission if you have not yet had a response to a previous one.
8. Kindly Name the type of Submission in the “subject” of your email.

ARTICLES

Pieces should be between 300 and 1500 words.

STORIES

not accept multiple submissions
For Stories, above all we look for elegance in style, structure and characterisation. We are open to both experimental and traditional forms. Just please make sure they are no more than 2000 words in length.

POETRY

Poetry should display a commitment to the ultra-specificities of language, and show a refined sense of simile and metaphor. The structure should be tight and exact. Poems should be no longer than 20 lines.

Photography, Paintings, Sketches, Poetry Recitations. These should be your own content. Anything copied will be immediately removed from the website.

Plagiarism: We pay strong attention to plagiarism and would not entertain anyone submitting plagiarised content.

SUBMISSION PROCESS

Work should be submitted via email to writerly.uk@gmail.com

While we try to respond to every submitter, the volume of submissions we receive means that it is not always possible to contact each writer individually. If you haven’t heard back from us within 8 weeks, please assume that your submission has not been accepted on this occasion.

Moreover, we don’t accept any late submissions. Anything submitted after any specific deadline will not be accepted.
